“They say laughter is good for the soul…”
This made me actually LOL, brilliant!
A subject close to the heart of every man, the art of pornographic material. But now you can have a wank, and save the world! Go on son!
Come4.org is a not-for-profit, “ethically-inspired” pornography website that invests any revenues generated to charitable causes, giving a new meaning to the phrase “wank bank”. – LOL 😉
Visitors to Come4 can upload, share and watch sexually explicit materials ranging from artistic nude pictures to homemade videos for free. Any revenues generated by advertising or donations are re-invested to finance certain causes. Each video will get associated with a specific cause, allowing visitors to vote with their mouse and, presumably, hands.
The Milan-based team behind the project is currently seeking funding on Ulele to build the site. The team behind Come4 chose online pornography since it is an industry worth $100 billion (£62 billion). The founders — philosophy researcher Marco Annoni and Fliz CEO Riccardo Zilli — say that they think there is nothing wrong in using part of this money for a better end. “Just imagine if we collected just one percent of the money made by the porn industry, how many great things we could finance with a billion.”
The holding page for Come4 explains: “Today the porn industry has an unchallenged power to decide which content should be available online. As a result, instead of reflecting the natural plurality of human sexuality, today online pornography fosters a one-dimensional perspective that is often fake, violent, macho-centred, and in many cases barely legal.”
“We believe we can do better than this and that the time has come to rethink critically the relationship of online pornography and society.”
Come4 acknowledges that some people might see it problematic to fund social causes with the proceeds of pornography, but says that pornography isn’t inherently bad, it has simply been controlled by the wrong people, giving consumers few alternatives. “Provided no one is harmed and that everything is legal, is there any reason why part of these revenues cannot be used for better ends?” asks the site.
That might be the case, but some charities dedicated to women’s causes might find it hard to swallow (no pun intended). Furthermore, Come4 customers could find it off-putting to read about distressing causes when they are trying to arouse themselves. – LOL 😀
The first cause Come4 will support is the Asta Philpot Foundation, an organisation that raises awareness about the rights and issues faced by disabled people. The “porn with a heart” initiative has already raised £3,075 of its £7,711 goal through its funding page.
